Stittsville 56ers (Stingrays) Squirt Girls win Bronze at Provincial Championships in Guelph

Guelph, On Aug 22/23 - The 56ers rallied for 6 runs in the bottom of the last inning to defeat Orleans 13-12 and win Bronze at The PWSA Squirt Girl Provincial Championships in Guelph. Abby McEwen provided the winning hit, scoring Taylor Sachs from 3rd base.

The 56ers opened the tournament with a 9-2 loss to Orleans, followed by a 17-1 win over North Bay on Saturday. On Sunday the 56ers rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat Waterloo 6-3 and advance to the quarter finals. Erindale was up next and the girls finished a 10-2 win with a SS-1st-3rd double play. In the semi final Stittsville was unable to hold an early lead and fell 18-8 to a very strong hitting Etobicoke team. The Bronze Medal game was the fourth of the day for the girls.

Strong pitching from Brooklyn McIntyre and Taylor Sachs along with an aggressive, offensive game were key to the girl's success in this 16 team tournament.

On Sunday July 12th Stittsville Softball hosted a Peewee Select Tournament at Alexander Grove Park. Teams from Lyn and McNab participated along with the Stittsville Minor Peewee and Stittsville Major Peewee teams. The Stittsville Major Peewees were the Tournament Champions defeating Lyn in the final game. Congratulations go to the coaches and players!

The Pee Wee girls won the Greenbush North Augusta Tournament the weekend of June 27-28th, 2009. Congratulations go to the coaches and players!
