Coaches' Clipboard

The SMSA needs coaches at all levels.

Fun league coaches are especially needed in order to keep teams small. The SMSA provides coach training. If you are a new coach we offer a Grass Roots clinic. For those with coaching experience we offer an advanced coaching clinic. SMSA is incorporating aspects of the Ontario Softball Association "Learn to Play" program to help coaches organize their training. "Learn to Play literature will be distributed at the coaching clinics. We strongly recommend that all coaches take advantage of the clinics to learn or improve softball skills.

We expect all participants to demonstrate courtesy and respect at all times. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. This will be the guiding principle of conduct in this game. Please visit Respect My Game for more information.

Coaching clinics are planned and held on a regular basis to ensure coaches possess the skills and abilities to provide proper instruction to their players. Pre-season player training sessions increase the basic skills of players so they could better enjoy the game once the season started. The overwhelming success of this spring training camp has led SMSA to consider incorporating this into its program as a "value-added" benefit that increases the profile of the sport in the community.
