Fun Day Schedule

When: Saturday, June 21std

Where: Alexander Grove Park (off Main Street, adjacent to the Stittsville Arena)

What we have planned:

8:30 to 11:20: Fun Games – kids versus parents!
11:30 to 12:00: Parade of Teams
12:00 to 1:30: Lunch

Ongoing entertainment: face painting, sign making, the DUNK TANK, and a Magician (The Duke of Magic).

Fun Games

We have decided to give the kids a change and have them play their parents/coaches. Come prepared with your glove, running shoes, and be ready for some alternative rules (of the kids making).

All games will be played on either Grove-1 or Grove-2 (Grove-1 is in the front, Grove-2 the back). We will be setting up 5 playing fields (Diamond, 1st Base, 3rd Base, Left Field, and Right Field).

We have tried to minimize the conflict with Soccer. But unfortunately we don’t have enough diamond space to allow all the Tball and Minor teams to play at 10:30 so we randomly selected teams to play at 8:30 and one team to play at 9:30. We also went through the team lists to try to make sure parents with 2 kids don’t have a conflict (if it was possible to avoid it).

Here is the schedule for the day:

Grove 1 (front)

Time Diamond 1st 3rd Left Right
8:30-9:20 Major 1 Major 2 Major 3 Major 4 Major 5
9:30-10:20 TykeB 1 TykeG 2 TykeG 3 TykeG 4
10:30-11:20 Minor 2 Minor 3 Minor 4 Minor 5 Minor 6

Grove 2 (back)

Time Diamond 1st 3rd Left Right
8:30-9:20 Tball 1 Tball 3 Tball 5 Tball 6 Minor 8
9:30-10:20 TykeG 1 TykeB 2 TykeB 3 Minor 1
10:30-11:20 Tball 2 Tball 4 Tball 7 Tball 8 Minor 7

Parade of Teams:

The parade of teams will occur at 11:30 (sharp) on the Grove 1 Diamond.

We will be providing Bristol Board and pens for each team to make it’s own sign. Teams will carry this onto the field for the parade. Your coaches will be arranging for this in one of your breaks before the Parade.

Teams are to gather in the trees off the first base diamond side just before 11:30. There will be no order to the teams. The Stittsville Legion’s colour guard will lead the way. We will ask the teams to advance to the diamond in an orderly fashion. They are to enter through the gates on the 1st base side and round the bases.

Once all of the teams have entered the field we will have a short thank you to all of the people involved. After that we will ask all teams to come into the infield for our annual group picture.

Lunch:

No Fun Day would be complete without food. Lunch will be served after the Parade.

We will be providing food and drink for the Fun Leaguers and their parents. This year will feature a box lunch that includes a traditional ballpark hotdog, a regular size bag of chips, rice krispy square, and a cold drink of your choice. Other guests (siblings, grandparents, etc.) are welcome to join us but we ask that you contribute $2 per person.

Please bring your folding chairs, picnic blankets, etc. as picnic table space is limited.

Dunk Tank:

The opportunity to dunk their coaches or parents is always a Fun Day favorite for the kids. There is no schedule -- the first dunk will be at 9:30. Simply work in the time around your games or Lunch. Even before your game if possible (the water may even be clean).

Other Activities:

Your coaches will be handing out participation medals. We will also be providing face painting materials for each team to self-adorn.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

We are still quite short of parent volunteers. If you are able to help for even an hour, please let Marlene at marlene4995@rogers.com know as soon as possible. We need your help to make this day a success and volunteers can help set up (from 8-9AM), prepare the food, serve the food, or take down (1:30-2:30).
